The resort takes its name from the iconic Paraw Regatta Festival—the oldest traditional sailing competition in Asia and the largest in the Philippines. What many don’t know is that the festival traces its earliest beginnings to the very shores of Iloilo Paraw Beach Resort, where the first paraw (double-outrigger sailboat) races were held. As the celebration grew in scale and prestige, the event was later moved to Villa Baybay, where thousands now gather each year to witness this vibrant display of Ilonggo maritime heritage.
Today, Iloilo Paraw Beach Resort proudly carries this legacy, honoring the rich cultural and historical roots of the Paraw Regatta while offering guests a serene beachfront experience shaped by tradition, community, and the enduring spirit of Iloilo’s seafaring past.

THE PARAW
Ilonggos have been celebrating the Paraw Regatta Festival since 1973, a tradition born from the desire to preserve the historic value of the paraw—a native double-outrigger sailboat crafted from wood and bamboo. With its slender hull and two stabilizing outriggers, the paraw is a masterpiece of indigenous maritime engineering, perfected by generations of Ilonggo seafarers.
One of the festival’s enduring goals is to educate and inspire the younger generation to appreciate these traditional sailboats that have been part of our coastal culture for more than a century. After all, Iloilo has long been known as home to some of the best seafarers in the world.
For us Ilonggos, the Paraw Regatta is more than just an event—it is a beloved annual celebration that showcases the exceptional skills of our paraw sailors and shares our vibrant maritime heritage with guests and tourists from across the globe.
But the paraw is not only a festival symbol—it is a way of life.
The sight of its colorful sails catching the wind represents a shared journey—a voyage toward brighter horizons. The sea may be unpredictable, turbulent even, but we navigate it with the same resilience, grace, and determination that define the famed paraw sailors.
Each sailing of the paraws is a moment steeped in cultural meaning and Filipino tradition—a reminder of who we are and the heritage we carry. And today, as we continue to rise from difficult years, we look forward to celebrating this enduring symbol of Ilonggo strength, unity, and hope once again.

THE STORY BEHIND ILOILO PARAW BEACH RESORT
Iloilo Paraw Resort was founded with a noble and heartfelt vision—to create a peaceful sanctuary for hardworking families living in the modest coastal communities of Calumpang. Recognizing that many nearby resorts were not designed with families in mind, the young entrepreneur behind the resort sought to build a place where every member of the family—from children to grandparents—could relax, bond, and feel genuinely cared for.
As the resort began taking shape, the owners discovered that the very shoreline on which it stood once served as the original venue of the country’s oldest and largest traditional sailing event—the Iloilo Paraw Regatta. This remarkable heritage became a defining element of the resort. In honor of this iconic festival and the generations of fisherfolk who have lived and thrived by the sea, the resort embraced the name Iloilo Paraw Resort. Through its aesthetics, food offerings, service culture, and amenities, the resort aims to give every guest a meaningful taste of coastal Ilonggo life and the spirit of the paraw.
Throughout the years, Iloilo Paraw Resort has welcomed a diverse community of guests—from families and groups of friends to organizations hosting celebrations, seminars, and workshops. However, like many establishments, the resort felt the harsh impact of the pandemic, which brought unprecedented challenges to the tourism industry.
To endure and pursue its vision, Iloilo Paraw Resort forged partnerships with reputable operators for its food, café, accommodations, and other key services. With united commitment, the owners and partners now focus on rebranding, streamlining operations, elevating products and services, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Today, Iloilo Paraw Resort continues its journey with renewed passion—to celebrate Ilonggo culture, uplift the surrounding community, and provide a warm haven where every guest can rest, reconnect, and rediscover life by the sea.
BRAND PERSONALITY
THE GENUINEHumble. Sincere. Down-to-Earth. Authentic. This is the spirit that defines Iloilo Paraw Beach Resort.
It mirrors the everyday life of the Ilonggo fisherman—someone who takes quiet pride in honest work and resilience.
He rises before sunrise, shares a simple breakfast with a cup of hot coffee, and sets out to sea on his paraw. He braves the heat, the waves, and the long hours, driven by the purpose of bringing home fish to nourish his family. At day’s end, he returns to a comforting home-cooked meal, unwinds with friends over beer or a shot of whiskey, and sleeps with contentment—ready to face a new day with courage and hope.
This humble rhythm of life—simple, hardworking, content, and true—is the same warmth and sincerity we aim to bring to every guest who steps into our resort.
